Three million dollars in funding for community projects has been allocated by the Hawke's Bay Regional Council.

An upgrade of the Wairoa Community Centre and Alexander Park has been given $500,000, $2 million has gone to the hockey facility at the Regional Sports Park and $500,000 for the Visitor and Education Centre at Te Mata Peak.

The hockey park funding is dependent on Hawke's Bay Hockey Association, the Hawke's Bay Hockey Artificial Surfaces Trust and the Regional Sports Park Trust producing an acceptable and agreed plan for the new facility.

The funding for Te Mata Peak Trust is subject to negotiations with the trust and Hastings District Council to ensure the best possible alignment with the regional council's policy for community facilities and brand recognition.
