Police have released a compusketch of an alleged street attacker, despite his head and face being mainly covered with an item of clothing in the early-morning indecent assault he is said to have committed in Napier.

The sketch was compiled by police with the help of the 17-year-old female complainant who told them a male forced her into a public toilet in Maadi Rd, opposite the Onekawa Shopping Centre and sexually assaulted her about 1am on Sunday.

An image has also been compiled resembling a tattoo the man was thought to have had.

The man wore a shirt and apparently pulled a T-shirt from beneath over his head in an attempt to disguise himself.

Described as Maori, aged about 18 with long dark hair, the man was seen by at least one other person in the area.

He wore jeans and a blue checked top.
