The occupants of a car which ended upside down in a ditch with a crushed roof after a crash on Swamp Rd near Fernhill managed to clamber out with only minor injuries.
"We're okay," was how one of the young men put it as emergency services worked on the occupant of a second vehicle involved, who was not so fortunate. St John Ambulance operations manager Stephen Smith said the man received serious leg injuries.
The crash happened just before 5pm yesterday, and as well as leaving two cars badly damaged, a power pole was snapped off as one of the vehicles ploughed through it.
Police investigators were today still putting together the pieces which led to the crash which happened in clear conditions on a straight stretch of road.
It is understood there had been three, possibly four, people in the upturned car.
Police kept the busy road open while emergency services workers cleared the scene.
