A 12-year-old boy was in stable condition in Hawke's Bay Hospital last night after being shot with an air rifle at Tamatea Intermediate School.

Hawke's Bay Police were called to the Napier school at 3pm and as a result of inquiries apprehended three youths, aged between 16 and 17 years of age. A weapon was also recovered.

Senior Sergeant Stuart Fleming told Hawke's Bay Today the person who shot the air rifle was not on school grounds at the time.
