Offender found insane
A woman who stole a $4700 diamond ring, a car and committed numerous other offences last year has been found not guilty of the crimes by reason of insanity.
Janelle Catherine Gray appeared in Napier District Court on Tuesday where three medical experts agreed she had a defence of insanity.
In late July, a month after the offending, Gray went missing, prompting police to issue a missing persons notice.
She was located five days later after she was recognised from a photo published in Hawke's Bay Today.
