Businessman's charges heard next year

File

A hearing of fraud charges against Napier businessman Rodney Green is unlikely to be heard before the middle of next year.

Charged by the Department of Internal Affairs with dishonestly using a document and obtaining deception related to a $10,862 gaming proceeds grant from the Infinity Foundation to a Napier sports organisation, his next appearance has been scheduled for April 4.

Green, 63, first appeared in court on the charges on November 10, when defence counsel Tony Snell said they would be defended.

Green denies any wrongdoing.

The department has however, withdrawn related charges against a sports organisation representative who also appeared in court on November 10.
