Hastings couple face charges over harming baby
A Hastings couple has been charged with mistreating and neglecting a newborn baby.
Kalifa Maulolo, 42, is facing one count of ill-treating a baby less than 10 weeks old.
His wife, Tepatasi Maulolo, 34, has been charged with wilfully neglecting the baby.
The incidents are alleged to have occurred between January 26 and April 9, 2011, in Wellington.
Kalifa Maulolo has also been charged with mistreating and intentionally injuring a 4-year-old in February 2002, and with assaulting a female.
It's understood the infant was no longer in the care of the couple.
The two have yet to enter pleas and were due to appear in Napier District Court next week.
