Lindisfarne face another test

Lindisfarne College will get another crack at an unbeaten side in the Central North Island 1st XV rugby competition on Saturday.

Lindisfarne will host Francis Douglas Memorial College a week after losing 14-7 to top-of-the-table St Paul's Collegiate in a tight encounter. The stronger of the two Hawke's Bay teams in the comp, Lindisfarne gained a bonus point and sit mid-table with a couple of games in hand.

Feilding High School proved too slick for St John's College in Feilding and recorded a 40-10 victory. Possession and territory were evenly shared throughout the free-flowing match, but Feilding showed better finishing and ran out to a 33-5 halftime lead.

St John's College came back strongly in the second half with several attacks going close to the line but the Feilding defence held strong on all but one occasions.

In New Plymouth one of the competition favourites, Francis Douglas Memorial College, needed a last-minute penalty to beat Wanganui Collegiate 11-10.
