The Stu Gourdie-coached side lost 13-8 to Christchurch Boys' High in their semifinal after trailing 6-0 at halftime.

"We were held up twice over the line in 50-50 situations and both times the call went against us but at the end of the day it was mistakes at crucial times which let us down," said Gourdie.

Winger Leon Ward scored Napier's try and fullback Ethan Bradey kicked a conversion.
