It's the most romantic day on the calendar and what better way to celebrate than marrying the love of your life?

Napier couple Marama Rameka and Glenis Thompson did just that, when they were wed on Valentine's Day at Crab Farm Winery in Bay View.

The event, with about 70 guests, meant the world to this loved-up pair, who fell head over heels eight years ago after meeting at a mutual friend's house.

Mrs Rameka described her wedding as "the best day of my life".

The couple chose February 14 because of the romantic connotations it had. "We have got a few heart [decorations] and the theme is red and black for Valentine's."

Mrs Rameka wore an ivory dress, carried a simple bouquet of white hydrangeas, and was accompanied by two bridesmaids in black dresses.

The sun shone on the afternoon wedding, which concluded with a reception at the same venue.

"We really liked [Crab Farm] because it has a laid-back vibe and it's quite rustic." A honeymoon is planned in Australia for April.
