The Hawke's Bay women's representative team have beaten Manawatu by 67 runs.

Schoolgirl Caitlin King took 4-31 on debut and veteran Abby Burrows claimed 5-5 at Ongaonga Domain.

Otago Sparks batsman Lisa Grant, who is teaching at Hastings Girls' High School, also made her debut for the Bay.

Bay opener Kelly Rangi continued her rich vein of form with 83 runs with 51 extras, including 29 wides the next highest.

"I thought we were probably 20 to 30 runs short of what we should have scored on the pitch batting first but we were determined to make sure we didn't make the mistakes of the past," Bay coach Bob Morgan said.

The Bay bowled tighter, the 18 wides an improvement on past games and significantly fewer than Manawatu delivered.
