Christmas for the Hawke family youngsters of Napier is going to be a little bit special this year after their grandma arrived all the way from Toowoomba in Queensland.

Grace, 11, Charlotte, 8, James, 5, and 3-year old Andrew were there with mum and dad, Michele and Aaron, to meet Mrs Hawke's mum, Helen Clear, who was eagerly given a welcome cuddle from the youngsters.

It was nice to catch up again, Mrs Hawke said.

The family had been lucky enough to head over and see "nana" three months ago, but having her come to the Bay, to their place, at such a special time as Christmas was really something.

Grace summed it up with an enthusiastic "ooh yes" when asked if it was exciting to have nana here for the first Christmas together. And ooh yes, she might just have something a little special for them. "It's nice to be all together and this is the best place to have Christmas," Mrs Hawke said.
