Delays add to journeys

State Highway 2 between Takapau and Wairoa is the busy spot for maintenance workers, logging crews and general service contractors with work being carried out at 10 sites along the route.

Impact times on travel from each of the sites is estimated at five minutes as speed restrictions, single lanes, shoulder closures and stop-go signals are likely to be in place.

The Tangoio region sees forestry work and surface maintenance taking place at three sites.

One of the major resurfacing jobs is taking place at the SH2 intersection with SH5 where a new stronger seal compound is being laid, while some delays are expected at a retaining wall construction site about 5km south of Wairoa.

Motorists travelling through Westshore and Pandora are advised of road shoulder closures while ultra-fast broadband is being laid.

Two work sites are operating on SH5 - just north of Tarawera where safety improvements are being carried out and at Te Haroto.

And resealing work is taking place between Fernhill and Maraekakaho on SH50.

Motorists are advised to obey speed restrictions in the affected areas.
