The driver of a quad bike that crashed at Waimarama in Hawke's Bay early this month seriously injuring four people is facing numerous charges relating to the crash.

Daniel McGregor, 28, of Waimarama, is facing four charges of driving with excess breath alcohol causing injury; one of reckless driving, one of cultivating cannabis, one of possessing cannabis and one of possessing utensils.

He will be appearing in the Hastings District Court on February 19.

No-one else involved in the incident is facing charges.  McGregor was identified as the driver of the quad bike.

McGregor, his six-year-old daughter Ashlee Shorrock and three other adults were on the quad bike when it crashed on Okaihau Rd, Waimarama, shortly before midnight on January 2.

Ashlee was thrown from the bike.  She suffered numerous injuries to her face, neck, spine and back and had a fractured skull.  She has been transferred from Auckland Starship Hospital to the Wilson Rehabilitation Centre in Auckland.

Police say no further comment will be made about the incident as it is now before the courts.
