The Hawke's Bay Vintage Car Club is rolling out some of its finest old cars on Saturday to help raise funds for the Hawke's Bay Christmas Cheer Appeal.

Club member Mark Jenkinson said members wanted to do something as part of celebrations for moving into their new clubrooms in Meeanee during the weekend, and figured doing something for the public, and the appeal, would be fitting.

Four or five vintage cars would be based at four venues on Saturday: the Havelock North Domain; the Cornwall Park carpark off Tomoana Rd; the Tom Parker Fountain on Marine Parade; Anderson Park in Greenmeadows.

Mr Jenkinson said for a gold coin donation people would be given a ride around the block in a classic vintage car.

The money raised would go to the Christmas Cheer Appeal as well as to the Salvation Army.

The rides will be available from 1.30pm.
