Otane farmer Greg Hart is organising a rally at Clive Square in Napier tomorrow to protest against potential plans to frack in Hawke's Bay.

After waking up in the middle of the night on Sunday, he said TAG-Apache's oil and gas exploration plans were "the straw that broke the camel's back" and he began to organise a rally.

"For me it is bigger than just the fracking and oil exploration," he said.

"It's a future vision for Hawke's Bay and future generations."

Although he didn't know how many to expect, he said it was open to people from all walks of life.

He planned to start at Clive Square at midday before heading to the oil exploration briefing at the regional council meeting so "the councillors are aware that there are people who care".

"The brighter future promised during the last election campaign is not going to happen by creating more climate change and corporate profits for overseas companies," Mr Hart said.

"It is time to rally to send a strong message to councils and government that drilling for oil and fracking is not going to create a better future for our children."

The rally begins at noon tomorrow at Clive Square in Napier, followed by the TAG-Apache briefing at 1pm at the Hawke's Bay Regional Council office on Dalton St.
