Home industries has long been a tradition of the Dannevirke and Districts A & P Show and organisers are delighted entry numbers are well up this year.
Vice president Pam Henricksen said this year's exhibition had attracted a large number of entries from all over the district and even from as far away as Wellington.
"Graeme Cunningham drove all the way up here from Wellington just to enter his preserves and he did very well winning a number of prizes.
"His products were very well presented and he must have spent hours on them."
Mrs Henricksen said a lot of new entrants,, including children, had submitted items and the quality was getting better every year.
"Hannah Peters is only 13 and she entered the woodturning for the first time and won it so it is wonderful to see younger people taking part. Entrants have spent a lot of time and put in a great deal of effort into their presentations and the finishing touches were just fantastic."
Entries in the crochet section were also well received as there were none last year and the number of food entries was also well up with lots of baking.
Mrs Henricksen herself managed to walk away with a second placing in the bloom section with a white dahlia that she was delighted with.
"I was in a hurry and thought I should enter and just quickly picked it. With all the rain and wind we have had, it is quite difficult to find a nice bloom at the moment."
Once again, Dannevirke businesses have shown great support with their sponsorship and organisers say they are very grateful.
"They have been amazing once again. Considering times are hard for many people, Dannevirke retailers have been very generous and we would like to thank them for their ongoing support," Mrs Henricksen said.
