While the introduction of daylight saving has added another hour of light to peoples' lives, heavy fog which rolled across Hawke's Bay yesterday morning added several hours to a few hundred people's travel plans.

The fog descended across parts of the Bay, including Napier and Hawkes's Bay Airport, on Saturday night and stayed until the sun eventually burned it off just after 9.30 yesterday morning.

It caused two Sunday morning inbound flights, from Auckland and Wellington, to be cancelled, which in turn affected two departure flights.

Other flights were delayed.

The scheduled 6.55am flight to Auckland eventually left at 10.03am.

There were slight delays to several other services but from 10am the airport was fully operational and flights were back to normal.

Air New Zealand had advised people to re-book on later flights.
