Gardening: Jobs to do
Big thirst
If Ken Ring reckons it'll be dry at your place this summer, look at installing drip irrigation. If that's not an option, make sure you have garden taps in convenient places, and hoses that reach everywhere.
Summer plateful
Sow beans, peas, carrots, sweetcorn, beetroot, spinach and parsnip, and keep up regular plantings of salad greens.
Grow some colour
Sow seeds of flowering annuals such as alyssum, Californian poppy, marigolds, nasturtium and cosmos directly into the soil.
Neat and easy to find
Reorganise the garden shed. Discard anything that is out of date (not The Partner) or has lost its label. Make sure you have adequate supplies of fertilisers for fruit trees, vegetables and general garden use.
