Trim the hedges
Take advantage of the fine weather and trim any hedges now - they'll put on some new growth before winter and look lush.
Transplant evergreens
Transplanting evergreen trees and shrubs can now begin, and there's still time to take cuttings of shrubs for propagating.
Pretty plantings
Sow hyacinths, polyanthus, poppies, pansies and sweet peas.
Mark seed spots
If you're planting seeds in your vegetable garden, remember to mark what's where. Thread the seed packet on to a twig and stick it in at the top of the row.
