Girl, 13, sexually assaulted in park

Police are investigating a complaint by a 13-year-old-girl that she was sexually violated in a Hastings park on Saturday.

The teenager was in the CBD area between midnight and 2.30am and accepted a ride back to Napier with a group of young men in a white car.

It is alleged she was taken to a park, that had a big bird cage and the sound of running water, where she was sexually violated. There she escaped from the men and was brought to the Hastings Police Station by a woman in a "flash sports car".

She was of Maori descent and was wearing distinctive clothing which included a black cardigan over a yellow dress, purple "Galaxy" pants with stars over them, black high heels and carrying a black handbag. The teenager lost the black cardigan, high heel shoes, purple pants and a Samsung S3 cellphone coloured blue/black.

To reconstruct the events, police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area and who may have seen the girl or seen her getting into the car with the males.

Police are appealing to the woman who brought the girl to the police station at about 2.30am to come forward.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who can provide information in relation to the girl's missing property.

Information can be passed on to Detective Jay Mason at Hastings Police, phone 06 873 0500, or via Crimestoppers - free phone 0800 555 111.
