Girls sing praise of SPCA cause
Two young girls took to the streets with a hat and their singing voices to raise money for the Hastings SPCA.
Last week, 10-year-old Maria Laakmann and 11-year-old Katinka Keet came up with $120 after two days busking in Havelock North.
"I just thought it was marvellous to see these girls, using completely their own initiative to raise a useful sum for the animals they clearly love," SPCA volunteer Jessica Maxwell said.
"It just shows how people of all ages can help."
The donation was welcomed by Hastings SPCA's animal shelter, which is currently inundated with kittens.
