Golf: Brown nets $46,550 for sixth place

Wellington golf professional Mark Brown has finished in sixth place at the Thailand Open on the OneAsia Tour.

The former European Tour professional carded a seven-under par 65 in the final round at the Suwan Golf & Country Club to finish on an 18-under par total, five shots back from England's Chris Wood who won by two shots from Korean Dong-kyu Jang

Brown, who had rounds of 70, 65, 70 and 65, earned $46,550 for the finish and climbed to 17th position on the OneAsia Order of Merit from only three events.

It is his best result on the OneAsia Tour and for 2012 after finishing joint runner-up at the New Zealand PGA Championship at The Hills in March.

Fellow Wellington pro Gareth Paddison carded rounds of 70, 67, 67 and 70 to claim a share of 22nd place and earn $12,000.

Hawke's Bay professional Doug Holloway was tied for 61st to bank $2600.

Meanwhile, on the web.com Tour, formerly the Nationwide Tour, Manawatu professional Tim Wilkinson (71, 71) and Hamilton pro Steven Alker (68, 77) missed the cut at the Price Cutter Charity Championship in Missouri.
