GOLF: HB pair at NZ helm

Hastings PGA professional and New Zealand Golf academy coach Brian Doyle will guide the New Zealand team to the world under-19 championship in Japan this year.

Doyle, with former Golf Hawke's Bay administrator David Howie as manager, will be at the helm of the four-member Kiwi side from June 14-23 at Nagoya. The team is to be named after the New Zealand Amateur Championship at the St Andrew's course in Hamilton from April 15-27.

Hastings Golf Club member Nick Gillespie would have been a contender but his birthday puts him out by three months to make the age-group cut.
