The Pettigrew-Green Arena Gym's recent focus on customer service is paying dividends with the announcement it is a finalist in four categories of the 2012 Fitness Industry Awards.

Arena Gym staff Rebecca Jones, Shiree Darroch and Cath Gibson are all finalists, as is Arena Gym itself in the community award category.

Arena Gym won the community award last year.

The Fitness Industry Awards dinner will be held in Auckland on November 24 where the winners will be announced, for which Arena Gym staff will be in attendance to "hopefully accept an award or two".

Pettigrew Green Arena chief executive Brendon Rope said he was very pleased when he heard the news.

"We put ourselves forward for a couple of others [awards] as well, just to see if we were making the grade," he said. "Those guys getting right through has been almost unbelievable really.

"They did a really good job - very enthusiastic, particularly the three individuals."

He said they had been great with the customer service side of the business, making sure that "everyone that comes in the place is greeted" and to be finalists showed they were "doing something right".

"I think we'll be extremely lucky to get right through, but I'd like to think we'll come home with one or two [awards]."
