Hastings woman admits unlawful sexual connection with 14 year old

A Hastings woman that went missing with a 14-year-old girl earlier this year has pled guilty to having an unlawful sexual connection with her.

Leeanna Marie Hodgetts, 39, entered guilty pleas for the two charges at the Napier District Court this morning. She also plead guilty to a charge of abduction.

In previous months the two had struck up a relationship, but with the police net beginning to close in on Hodgetts, they fled north on May 22, visiting Tauranga, Auckland and Palmerston North.

The victim was eventually located in Havelock North on June 4 and the following day Hodgetts turned herself in at the Featherston police station.

Hodgetts was remanded in custody for sentencing on December 11.
