A 3.4 earthquake near Havelock North was felt in the Hawke's Bay region just before 10am this morning.

GNS Science said the quake struck at 9:49 am about 30 km south of Havelock North and was at a focal depth of 40km.

It said it was felt in the Hawkes Bay region.
