We take a look back at our top stories online for 2012.

Our biggest story of the year was a drag race which went horribly wrong, resulting in four teenagers being taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital back in October.

Our second most-viewed story was in May as police hunted a man wanted in connection with crashing into a police car and driving off.

Rod Stewart rocked the Mission Estate in February.

Our gallery of Miss Waimarama contestants was a big hit with readers.

Our fifth biggest story was about a Hastings man who was charged after his Labrador bit a stranger who touched its nose protruding from under his closed front gate.

A fatal accident in Hastings back in July was our sixth biggest story.

Coming in at number seven was the gallery of Rod Stewart playing at Mission Estate.


Another crash which saw three people taken to hospital following an accident on the Hawke's Bay expressway near the Meeanee overbridge was our eighth biggest story.

At number nine was a crash in Waipukurau which left two young men in hospital in critical condition.

Rounding out our top ten was the story of Anna Cudby who offered to become a human billboard for up to five months in order to repay a $25,000 student loan. Her story attracted plenty of comments on our site.
