Flooding occured in parts of the region but nothing major has been reported.

Hawke's Bay Regional Council says the region's rivers and drains appear to have handled the latest rainfall event but with more rain on the way they are maintaining a watch on waterways.

"While the situation is manageable, there is more rain on the way overnight Wednesday with a further system forecast for the weekend.  However the indications are that both these rainfall systems are faster moving than what we've seen so far," the council said in a statement.

Across the region, there is minor surface flooding, with rivers continuing to flush out.  Full river channels are expected to remain through the weekend.

The HBRC Operations Group continues to monitor the drains and pumping stations, clearing build-up of weeds and other debris on rotation.

The council said soil will remain waterlogged and drivers are reminded to be cautious and watch for slips.
