A man involved in a quad bike crash in Hawke's Bay remains in a critical condition after the incident that left him with two broken legs and a broken pelvis.

Daniel McGregor spent seven hours in surgery for the injuries and remains in Middlemore Hospital, where his 6-year-old daughter Ashlee Shorrock is also recovering from serious injuries.

Mr McGregor was, along with his two friends and partner Stephanie Lucas, on the quad bike when it crashed down a ditch on Okaihau Rd near Waimarama Beach shortly before midnight on January 2.

Ms Lucas earlier told the Herald on Sunday she couldn't remember who was driving but claimed the three men with her had asked her to tell police she was driving because she had not been drinking.

All of the adults could face charges if they don't reveal who was driving, police have said.

The family of Ms Lucas declined to respond to the police comments.
