Helping out furry friends sweet as
Sweet treats with an animal theme are flavour of the day for the annual SPCA Cupcake Day on Monday.
Thousands of people have already registered to bake and sell their sweet treats, with all profits going to help SPCA centres across the country.
Bonnie Berkett, who owns Bonnie Cakes in Ahuriri, will be donating 12 dozen cupcakes to Fetch op-shop in Napier where they will be on sale from today.
She has also created a range of cupcakes, which can be bought from her store on Monday only.
"There are bones and 'woofs', little faces, 'meows' and even a dog friendly cupcake," she said. "I rescued my dog from America and I think it's a really important cause, the work they do is fantastic."
With more than 60,000 animals padding through the doors of 47 SPCA centres across the country every year, there is a huge need for extra funds. SPCA Cupcake Day gives New Zealander's the chance to give back.

Registrations close on Sunday at midnight, so make sure to sign up in time.
