Hunt still on for man
Police are still seeking a Napier man alleged to have been driving a car that hit a police car during a Sunday afternoon chase more than a fortnight ago.
The man is 42-year-old Dion Lange, who police say has been "actively" avoiding them since April 29, when the chase ended in Hillary Cres, Maraenui, having involved several patrol cars through streets in the area.
A man leapt out of a car when it was blocked by police vehicles and ran off in the direction of Kelvin Rd, while one other person remained at the scene.
Lange has more than 70 previous convictions, including armed robbery, and police say they are concerned he may again have access to firearms.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest and police say he is easily recognised by his full facial tattoos, highlighting his allegiance to the Mongrel Mob.
He was reported to be still in Napier as recently as last Wednesday but has connections in Manawatu, where he has also lived.
Police say any sightings or any information about his whereabouts should be reported immediately by calling 111.
