Lack of support for those wanting contraception
I have just moved here and I have always gone to Family Planning in Invercargill, then Dunedin, then Wellington to get prescriptions for my contraceptive pill. This service costs a nominal amount of $25. However in the Hawkes Bay, no such service exists and I am expected to pay $75 at a standard doctors just to get a prescription for my contraceptive pill.
I cannot believe that in today's society where women are trying to make smart choices that our medical system is making it so difficult to obtain contraception! It is absolutely outrageous that a fit and healthy person female, that hasnt been to the doctor in a long time because she dosnt need to, has to make an appointment and pay the full consultation fee for a pill to stop her getting pregnant!
