Lake Tutira algae warning

People are being advised not to undertake water activities at Lake Tutira due to high concentrations of blue-green algae.

The Hawke's Bay District Health Board's Public Health Unit issued a warning yesterday advising people not to make contact with the lake water until further notice, following recent Hawke's Bay Regional Council tests.

HBDHB medical officer of health Nicholas Jones said it was important water from the lake was not used for drinking or cooking purposes and dogs should also be kept away from having any contact with the lake water.
