Lucky Hawke's Bay residents took home nearly half a million dollars in Lotto prizes on Saturday night.

A first division prize worth $250,000 was sold at Andrew Spence Pharmacy in Napier, and a Hastings man, known only as Terry, won $200,000 on the Lotto Winning Wheel.

Four $10,000 prizes were also won - one in Havelock North and three in Hastings - as part of the organisation's 25th birthday promotion.

The first division prize remained unclaimed last night.

Lotto spokeswoman Emilia Mazur said the region was "extra fortunate" in Saturday's draws.

Since Lotto started 25 years ago, 300 million winners have won more than $7 billion in New Zealand Lotteries prizes.

Andrew Spence Pharmacy also sold a $23,681 prize earlier this month, and another $200,000 ticket in July.

In June, a Napier man won $10,333,000 from a ticket bought at Napier Pak'n Save.
