Man dies after car plunges down bank
A man died when his car plunged down a 60m bank in northern Hawke's Bay last night.
The car was spotted by a motorist about 8am today off State Highway 2 near Morere, north of Wairoa.
It appeared the car had driven over the bank at the top of a passing lane.
Gisborne Police Senior Sergeant Maui Aben said it was not known when or how the crash occurred. The police serious crash unit was investigating.
Mr Aben said the same car had been reported as driving erratically on the highway before the crash. The victim has not yet been identified.
