Man injured as loading ramp falls
A man trapped under a bulldozer loading ramp managed to free himself before being flown to Palmerston North Hospital yesterday.
A spokesperson for Palmerston North rescue helicopter said it was called to Pongaroa at 9.45am after a 64-year-old man became trapped under a bulldozer loading ramp, after it fell on him while he was adjusting it.
He managed to free himself and make his way to his truck.
"He couldn't get inside the cab and was found slumped over the vehicle's fuel tank," the spokesperson said.
He suffered serious multiple injuries to his head, chest, back and leg.
He was noticed by a passing farmer, who raised the alarm.
He was treated at the scene by St John paramedics before being taken to a suitable helicopter pickup point due to bad weather.
His condition was unknown last night.
