Matisse Reid's surgery delayed

Matisse Reid's colostomy surgery has been delayed until Tuesday next week.

Her mother Jodee said pre-surgery meetings with the anaesthetist and "pain doctor" went well, and "unusually" everything was going smoothly. But an emergency elsewhere in Pittsburgh Children's Hospital meant the transplant surgeon was unavailable.

Earlier this week Mrs Reid described the journey of Matisse's life-long battle with chronic intestinal pseudo obstruction as a "roller coaster with the ride never ending". Yesterday she remained positive despite the postponed surgery. "We are grateful that for once Matisse is not the emergency and our hearts go out to the child and family who are," she said.

"Thank you for all your good wishes and prayers - please keep them for Tuesday."
