Name suppression lapsed today for a Hastings childcare worker accused of fatally stabbing her boyfriend.

Juliette Anne Gerbes, 20, appeared in Hastings District Court and entered no plea to a charge of manslaughter following the death of 22-year-old Christopher Robin Jones on October 13.

Police arrived at Mr Jones' King St South home in Hastings to find him with serious injuries about 2am. He was rushed to Hawke's Bay Hospital where he underwent a four-hour emergency surgery, but died about 9am.

Gerbes surrendered her passport to the court and was bailed to appear in March for a post-committal conference.
