Napier woman appears in court following fatal stabbing

A Napier woman has appeared in court charged with assault after a man with stab wounds died in hospital early this morning.

Rosezanna Elizabeth Keefe, 35, is alleged to have assaulted her partner in what police believe was a domestic incident yesterday afternoon.

She was remanded in custody by consent and did not enter a plea during her brief appearance in the Napier District Court. No bail application was made.

A 45-year-old man was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital yesterday afternoon with significant head injuries but he died early this morning. Police examinations at a Geddis Ave address are ongoing.

Hawke's Bay CIB Detective Senior Sergeant Dave de Lange said a forensic post mortem was expected to be carried out tomorrow to establish the cause of the man's death.

A number of witnesses were also expected to be interviewed over the next few days to establish what had occurred at the house over the weekend.
