New mountain bike track opens | Hawkes Bay News | Local News in Hawkes Bay

A mountain bike and walking trail has been opened in the upper Wahipai Reserve, at the northern end of Dannevirke.

It was a joint effort between Work and Income and Tararua District Council under the Community Max Scheme .

The trail is suitable for off-road mountain bikes and the difficulty ranges from medium to high. At the start of the trail off the High St entrance are a number of small jumps and obstacles.

Another entrance is via a bridge off Cemetery Rd halfway down the hill.
