Motorcyclists now have somewhere to park in central Hastings that is safe and out of the way of their four-wheeled vehicle counterparts.
Hastings District Council has put the finishing touches on four motorbike parks around the CBD following a request from the Hawke's Bay Classic Motorcycle Club earlier this year.
The club said there were once six single parks for motorbikes in town but believed they were sealed over when the council put in its new iWay cycle lanes in the past couple of years.
The club presented a petition to the council which had 104 signatories, asking for the matter to be considered.
The council's operations manager Kevin Deacon said new parking spaces for motorbikes had been set up on Market St North, the city's northern car park behind the Westpac Bank, on Karamu Rd opposite Breakers restaurant and another on Warren St south, near the intersection of Heretaunga St East.
"We are just testing the water at the moment to see what the use is like and feedback from the public," Mr Deacon said.
"If there is a need, we could look at where more parks could go. It's just a matter of finding a suitable location."
