Hard working road safety students from across Hawke's Bay were rewarded for their volunteer efforts with an exciting day at Splash Planet recently.

The School Traffic Safety Team fun day on Friday was a day of celebration and a hard earned treat for the youngsters.

School road patrols operate pedestrian crossings outside schools so students can come and go safely, as well as be educated about traffic dangers.

Two schools also received special recognition for their road patrolling efforts. Taradale Primary received the Hawke's Bay Today Road Safety Challenge Cup this year and St Patrick's School received the Napier City Council Road Safety Challenge Shield.
