Police release names of dead in crash near Wairoa

Police have released the names of the four people who died in a crash on SH2 near Wairoa last night.

 

They were:

 

Watson Oliver Tipu, 31; Kennedy James Weir, 49; Raimon Keefe, 16; and Zyah Gianni Marsh, 13.

 

All were from Wairoa.  Raimon  and Zyah were half-brothers. 

 

A 17-year-old male remains in Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital in serious condition.  All the occupants of the car were working together in a shearing gang. 

They were travelling home from work when the car they were in crashed head-on into a 4x4 vehicle.

 

The 62-year-old driver of the 4x4 vehicle remains in Hawke's Bay Regional Hospital in a critical condition.

 

Police are continuing their investigations into the crash.
