A police pursuit last night came to a sudden halt when three police cars rammed a vehicle off the road in residential Flaxmere.

It's understood all five occupants in the vehicle attempted to flee but were apprehended.

Resident Joshua Kahui said the vehicle came "flying" along Caernarvon Drive before police boxed it in directly outside his home. They then got out of their vehicles and chased the occupants down.

"There were three [police] cars at first then I don't know how many after that," he said. "It was a lot."

He said four passengers attempted to run through the park across the road, while another ran into a neighbouring property.

The police pursuit began outside of Flaxmere. Police refused to comment at the scene but it is thought the vehicle may have been stolen.
