HOW CAN I USE UP AN OPENED JAR OF CRANBERRY JELLY?

Try this easy sauce with roast lamb: Place 4 heaped tablespoons of cranberry sauce in a bowl and loosen with a fork. Then combine with the grated rind of 1 orange (or mandarin), a tablespoon of fresh chopped mint and 2 teaspoons cider vinegar or wine vinegar. The mixture works equally well when used as a sandwich spread in cold lamb sandwiches. Variation: Use redcurrant jelly instead of cranberry sauce.

WHY IS SHORT PASTRY MADE IN MY PROCESSOR ALWAYS TOUGH?

Could be too much liquid, or over-processing.

Next time put the flour, salt and maybe 1/2 a teaspoon of baking powder in the processor, blend 30 seconds then add the butter cut into small cubes.

Pulse until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs, then (with motor running) add liquid sparingly and process 15 to 20 seconds, until just starting to form a ball. Then turn on to a floured surface and lightly knead, wrap in clingfilm and chill for 15 minutes before using.
