How do I make a plant pot from a piece of pumice?

Use a hacksaw, if necessary, to make a flat bottom for your pot, then hollow out a small inner cavity with the aid of a screwdriver and a putty knife (or old metal spoon). Make holes with a screwdriver, then shape the interior with the putty knife.

For the sake of the safety of your lungs and eyes, wear a dust mask if you sand the pumice.

Leftover bits are useful as drainage in the bottom of pots or in potting mixes.

How do I propagate my jade plant? All previous attempts have failed.

Try taking tip cuttings 3-4cm long in spring, using a sharp knife - don't bruise the pieces or they will rot. Leave the cuttings to dry for a day or two before planting in potting mix designed for succulents or cacti.

Water occasionally, but note that more succulents are killed by overwatering than they are by drought, particularly in the cooler months. Jade plants grow best in partial shade rather than full sun.
