The 6-year-old girl involved in a quad bike accident at Waimarama earlier this month is today expected to return to Hawke's Bay.

Ashlee Shorrock was thrown from the vehicle in the accident and was taken to hospital with a fractured skull and numerous other injuries to her face, neck, spine and back.

An Auckland District Health Board spokesperson said she was expected to be transferred to Hawke's Bay Hospital today to continue her recovery.

Ashlee was admitted to Starship hospital in Auckland before being transferred to the Wilson Rehabilitation Centre in Auckland after the accident.

Charges were recently laid against her father, Daniel McGregor, 28, in relation to the incident. He faces four charges of driving with an excess breath-alcohol level causing injury, one of reckless driving, one of cultivating cannabis, one of possessing cannabis and one of possessing utensils. He is due to appear in the Hastings District Court on February 19.
