Rest of old Napier Borough Council building moved

The second part of the old Napier Borough Council building on Marine Parade was successfully shifted on Saturday - clearing the site for the construction of the new Hawke's Bay Museum and Art Gallery.

The first shift was made last Wednesday night when two heavy lift trailer units worked in tandem to take the largest chunk of the 127-year-old building.

Saturday's shift was not so daunting and the smaller slice has now joined the rest of the building on a holding section off Byron St about 400m away.

Contractors were clearing the last of the debris and rubble from the now vacant section in preparation for construction of the new $18 million museum complex.
