Road users will face delays

Motorists travelling through Hawke's Bay on the main SH2 and SH5 routes can expect a few minor delays, with essential maintenance and cable-laying work in progress.

Roadwork is being done at seven sites on SH2; one on the stretch between Napier and Wairoa and six between Napier and Dannevirke.

Cables are being laid at three sites in the Pakipaki and Takapau Plains area, while a passing lane is under construction just south of Pakipaki.

The work is set to be wrapped up by the middle of November and motorists are advised that stop-go signals and a single lane are in place.

Delays of about five minutes can be expected.

Rural Broadband is being installed in the Putorino region on the way to Wairoa, with speed restrictions in place as a result of the work.

Contractors are involved in pavement-maintenance work at four sites on the Napier-Taupo highway, and delays of up to five minutes are likely. The sites are spread between Glengarry Hill and Tarawera, mainly around Te Pohue and Te Haroto.

On SH50, drainage-maintenance crews are at work just north of Tikokino and Takapau. Speed restrictions are in place and slight delays can be expected.

Closer to Napier, cables are being laid between Westshore and Prebensen Drive, with some delays for road users at the Estuary Bridge.
